- !There is a story that when the train bearing President Lincoln's body back to Springfield went by, some of our ancestors were among the crowd that lined the tracks.
There has been a question about the name of Little Berry. We have two documents:the marriage certificate which lists his name as Berry Weaver (and it is also listed that way on one census) and a land document which lists his name as Little Berry. One question, therefore, remains unanswered. Census records list him as Benjamin, Berry and Little Berry.
BIOGRAPHY: The family has always wondered why this name would be given to such a large man. In the 1998 edition of the IGI three men by this name are listed. All born in Virginia. One born 1763, one in 1789 in Fluvanna Co, and ours born 16 Apr 1813 also in Fluvanna Co. Perhaps they are ancestors of his.
Sarah Weaver wrote a letter in 1957 giving a little information on her grandfather, Little Berry Weaver. She stated that he was a tall, slender, retired farmer. He spent most of his time fishing after he moved to town. He had what he called his fishing buggy and one he called the Sunday buggy. She believed that he belonged to the Methodist Church/.
