*They had a dairy farm in Henderson, Colorado. That's where James Edward &
Lydia got married (on the farm).
*Grandma Vawter worked at a girls summer camp and she was taking care of JW and
for one summer she put him in a nursing home (just for the summer) and Aunt
Debbie & Grandma Vawter received a lot of phone calls from the nursing home to
say that he had "escaped" AGAIN! He had walked from 72nd & Bradburn to 82nd &
Hooker St. to home each time! At this time he was in his late 80's.
*Both Grandpa & Grandma Carrie chewed tobacco...nobody knew it because they
concealed it so well.
*Both loved flower gardens, especially roses. The cemetary section that was
chosen as family burial is in the rose garden section.

Funeral services were conducted recently for J. W. Whitlock 8175 Hooker St. Mr. Whitlock died Feb. 11. He wasw 98. Born in pinebluff, Ala., in 1875 (pencil note 12 jul n1875), he was married June 13 1897 in Cedar Springs Ga. The couple moved to the Denver area shortly after their marriage. mrs. Whitlock died in 1967. He was the oldest person to vote in Westminster. Four children preceeded him in death. Edd, Oscar, Clara Morgan and Zelma A. Whitlock. Survivors include Charlie Whitlocks, powell, Wyo.;Ann Howell, Denver; Dolly Cusick, Denver; Clara Blauer, casper Wyo.;and Thelma Dady Reseda Calif. he is also survived by 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
